Global Caregiver Forum

January 15-16, 2026

Developing a roadmap to scale up parenting programs to all families who need them worldwide

About the Forum

Background

Scientists agree that nurturing care that makes a child feel loved and secure is a prerequisite for healthy cognitive, emotional and social development, and the most determining factor for good mental health throughout life. Parenting is perhaps the most important task we perform, but babies don't come with an instruction manual.

Main Objective

To develop a roadmap for scaling up parenting programs to everyone who needs them worldwide. This event will lay the groundwork for a global summit and a possible United Nations General Assembly resolution on childcare.

Evidence-Based

More than four hundred randomized controlled trials, collected in a systematic review led by WHO in 2022, demonstrate that evidence-based caregiving programs increase nurturing care, reduce maltreatment, and improve parental mental health outcomes.
